First Balkan High Speed Telegraphy Championship
31 May – 2 June 2013, Lovech, Bulgaria

Bulgarian Federation of Radio Amateurs is pleased to invite all HST competitors as well as CW operators from all Balkan countries (in alphabetical order: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, FYRO Macedonia, Greece, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, and Turkey) to the First Balkan High Speed Telegraphy (HST) Championship. It will be organized in Lovech, Bulgaria from 31 May to 2 June 2013.

Lovech is a mid-size city located 150 km north-east of Sofia and 160 km south-west of Ruse. The accommodation will be organized in a 3-star hotel in double and triple rooms. Full board will be provided, starting with dinner on 31 May and finishing with lunch on 2 June. The total price for two nights accommodation and two days full board will be 65 Euro per person.

The participants have to arrive on 31 May, Friday, competitions are provided on 1 June, Saturday (whole day) and 2 June, Sunday (morning), celebration dinner (hamfest) on Saturday, medals/certificates giving and departure on Sunday.

All official male and female categories (A to I) are welcome and will be awarded separately. Each country is allowed to participate with unlimited number competitors in each category. Team leaders, trainers, visitors (including visitors from non-Balkan countries) are welcome, too.

The format of the competition is relaxed and includes 3 tests only, as follows:
  • Callsigns Receiving Test (RUFZ)  according to the official rules. The winner gets 100 points, the rest  proportionally less.
  • Morse Runner Test  according to the official rules. The winner gets 100 points, the rest  proportionally less.
  • Transmission Test  mixed text only, 5 characters in a group, composed of Amateur Radio callsigns, Amateur Radio abbreviations, Q-codes, popular names, popular QTHs, etc. The winner gets 100 points, the rest  proportionally less.
The classification will be individual onlyrankings will be in total sum of points earned by the three tests (maximum 300).

The organizers believe that such format will attract not only traditional HST competitors but also many radio amateurs, lovers of CW.

All other details will be available in Bulletin 1 in the end of January 2013. Please, input that event in the Calendar of your society, your club, your personal calendar for 2013. BFRA will be grateful if you popularize that event in your websites.
